Police launched a homicide investigation on Monday after the body of a 54-year-old woman was discovered at a home in Puffin Walk at around 11.50pm. A 56-year-old Waterlooville man was arrested on suspicion of murder as part of the investigation.

Police have now confirmed that no further action will be taken against him. “He has been released from the investigation with no further action taken against him,” a police spokeswoman said. “Following the Home Office’s death investigation, which was completed today, the woman’s death has been ruled non-suspicious.

“Her family have been informed of this decision and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.”
