Porto is hosting the Social Forum, taking place at the Super Bock Arena – Pavilhão Rosa Mota, this Friday and Saturday, marking the second anniversary of the Social Summit held during Portugal’s Presidency of the European Union (EU).
In addition to the European Commissioners for Employment and Social Affairs, the Director General of the International Labor Organization, Gilbert Hunbo, and the European Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, Nicholas Schmidt, will be present. The forum will also be attended by European social partners, ministers of the countries whose inclusion is being discussed, in particular Moldova, as well as the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Oksana Zhalnovich.
After EU leaders commit to 2030 targets of an employment rate of 78%, at least 60% of adults attending a training course each year, and a reduction in the number of people at risk of social exclusion or poverty at least 15 million people, including five million children, the purpose of this forum is to get acquainted with the current situation in 27 countries.
Identified by the Portuguese Presidency as the highlight of the semester Social Summit focused mainly on the actions of the European Pillar of Social Rights presented by the European Commission months ago. The fourth presidency of Portugal in the EU took place from January 1 to June 30, 2021.

Due to this European Forum, the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal will be closed to the public on Friday evening and will reopen on Saturday, May 27 at 7:00 p.m.
