The overnight closure will allow investigation and repair of an infrastructure defect that has caused lane closures for the past several days. The M3 northbound will be closed tonight between Junction 4a (West Farnborough) and Junction 3 (Woking) from 9pm today until 6am tomorrow morning.
Following these overnight works, lanes 2, 3 and 4 are due to reopen, however lane 1 will remain closed until permanent repairs are made.
Drivers the detour should be followed as follows: Leave the M3 northbound at junction 4a and take the A327 Minley Rd. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit, then again at the 3rd exit at the next junction onto the A30. Drivers should then continue on the A30 through Blackwater and Bagshot to the A322 junction. At the roundabout take the third exit onto Grove End. Join the A322 and rejoin the M3 junction 3. Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Drivers trying to join the M3 northbound at Junction 4 should follow the diversion as follows: Take the A331 towards Camberley. At the roundabout take the fifth exit onto the A30. Drivers should then continue on the A30 through Blackwater and Bagshot to the A322 junction. At the roundabout take the third exit onto Grove End. Join the A322 and rejoin the M3 junction 3. Drivers should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
