The University of Porto, in partnership with the Embassy of Peru in Portugal, presents the exhibition “Qhapaq Ñan: the great Inca path” until May 28 at the Polo Central of the Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Porto. “. The inauguration, which took place this Thursday afternoon, was attended by the mayor of the city, Rui Moreira.
This exhibition, which combines photographic and audiovisual materials, aims to convey to the public some of the features of the Inca Trail.
Qhapaq Ñan, apart from being a special architectural space, has great historical, cultural, human and geographical diversity. It consists of several walking routes and is one of the most important human creations in the Andean world, connecting cities from different regions. More than 500 years after its construction, this Path is still active for many people who continue to use it to communicate and preserve their ancestral knowledge through intergenerational transmission.
Currently, Peru, through its Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs, as well as the Qhapaq Ñan Project – National Headquarters, continues to preserve all the history and cultural value of this relevant heritage.
Entrance to the exhibition is free from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 18.00 (last access at 17.30). Polo Central will be closed to the public on Easter Sunday, April 9.
