Tourism Minister Vassilis Kykilias stressed on Wednesday that “there is one big battle for us in the New Democracy” that took place on May 21.
“For me at the moment there is no thought about the second election. There can’t be a second election without a first election,” Kikilias told REAL FM radio, adding that there is currently no “dual election” narrative and that any other discussions, if necessary, will take place after May 21.
“Citizens will look at everything we have done in the last four years, how we have solved many serious crises and how we have horizontally supported society and the economy,” he said.
Referring to the tourist season, which began on March 11 with direct flights from the United States to Athens’ Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport and earlier than any previous year, for the Aegean islands and Crete, Kikilios stressed that tourism will significantly contribute to strengthening the economy, supporting the average family and the growth of the country.
In addition, he cited a further extension of the tourist season, a 20 percent increase in cruise tourism compared to 2022, breaking a new record, and with even better prospects than in 2022, as the markets of Australia and China are open in 2023.
