Climate activists have targeted banks to highlight the link between finance and climate change.

Posters with slogans such as “man sees no danger, only profit” were put up outside UBS and Pictet.

Campaigners are calling for citizens’ assemblies to pass laws against environmental funding.

The idea is supported by two green parties and a group of left-wing parties. But the Civic Movement of Geneva is more cautious and argues that any gatherings should not override traditional democratic legitimacy.
