For Interrail travelers, it is important to choose the cities to visit correctly in order to take advantage of the variety that this method allows. According to Bounce, Porto is a must stop for those who want to get to know Europe by train.
According to the luggage storage company, Invicta (Porto City) ranks second in the top ten cities and with a score of 8.22 (out of ten) is ahead of Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Lisbon, Valencia, Athens, Bordeaux and Florence. Bounce’s list is topped by Barcelona.
The rating takes into account factors such as hostels, security, nightlife and restaurants. In Porto, travelers find 0.89 hostels per square kilometer, 31.39 attractions, 1.59 bars and nightclubs, and 50.60 restaurants. Added to these numbers is the city’s safety index of 64.55 (out of 100) and over 39 million Google searches.
The company says that “Interrail travel in Portugal is undoubtedly one of the best ways to discover the beautiful beaches, coastal areas and wine regions”. “Thanks to Portugal’s efficient rail connections, those who dare to Interrail can take a train from Porto in the north to the Algarve in the south. Porto Campanhã Central Station is modern and serves the main lines,” the company adds.
But Bounce has another argument: "Porto has a fantastic public transport network, giving tourists a quick and inexpensive way to explore the city’s attractions".
