Dwayne Johnson says his favorite part of making DC’s new blockbuster Black Adam is putting on a superhero costume every day and feeling “like a little kid”.

The former wrestler-turned-Hollywood star said working on the film was “tough, but definitely worth it.”

The film is billed as both a spin-off and a prequel to 2019’s Shazam! movie starring Zachary Levy.

In addition to Johnson, the film stars Pierce Brosnan, Quintessa Swindell, Noah Centineo and Aldis Hodge.

Speaking at the film’s UK premiere in London’s Leicester Square, he told the PA news agency that he wanted to “open a new era” for the DC franchise.

“We made a great movie, we knew that was the most important thing,” he told PA.

“We wanted to create a film that would appeal to people all over the world, and we wanted to turn the superhero genre on its head a little bit by creating an anti-hero with a big edge.

“We also want it to usher in a new era.”

He continued: “What I loved most was putting on the suit every day because it was so cool.

“To come to work every day, you are living a dream, as if you were a little child.

“I mean, it’s hard work, but it’s definitely worth it.”

Johnson added that there was no “worst part” of making Black Adam, joking that he would most likely “join the circus” after its release.

The action star previously said the idea of him running for the US presidency was “not under consideration” and that he would rather spend his time “being a dad” to his daughters.

Johnson’s co-star Swindell, who plays superheroine Cyclone in the film, praised his “devotion” to the process, as well as his sense of humor.

“He’s incredibly funny, which I didn’t expect,” she told PA.

“We’d be doing a really serious scene and the DJ (Johnson) would say something really random and then we’d screw up 10 takes. He’s funny.”

Black Adam is due out in the UK on October 21st.
