In a major step forward, women can now access HRT without a prescription – and Boots Pharmacy is the first to offer it.
Anne Higgins, director of pharmacy at Boots, said the move was a landmark moment for women’s health“.
She explained that women can access Gina’s vaginal tablets to treat dryness, soreness, itching and burning after a quick consultation with pharmacist in the shop, although the women still have to pay for it.
“It means treatment is more convenient and accessible for women,” she told The Sun.
“Women can go to any Boots to talk to a pharmacist about menopausal symptoms without having to make an appointment, and many stores have privacy consultation rooms.’
Boots pharmacist Bina Mehta adds: “Menopause can cause more than 40 signs and symptoms.

“Each woman’s experience will be different and some women experience more signs and symptoms than others.
“That’s why it’s so important that we keep talking about menopause.
“I would encourage any woman who is worried or unwell to come and speak to a Boots pharmacist for personalized advice.”
