Ed Sheeran collaborates with Pokémon on a new song

THE Pokémon Company has announced a collaboration with Ed Sheeran on an upcoming pop song.

Sheeran is a big fan of the franchise, tweeting that he thinks the fifth-generation Pokémon Black game is “evil.”

Last year they teamed up to give a free virtual concert for Pokémon Go in November, where Sheeran sang six songs from his discography.

While promoting their album, songs included Perfect, Bad Habits, Overpass Graffiti, Thinking out Loud, First Times and Shivers.

When playing Pokemon games, Sheeran always chooses a water-type starter.

So as part of the event, water snacks became more common and special sunglasses worn by Squirtle were available in the game.

Pokémon is bringing back that Sun and Moon battle that fans hate

At this point, there is no reason that Sheeran will return to Pokémon Go or any other Pokémon game.

However, he has written a new song based on the franchise and it will be released on September 29.

Not much is known about the new track other than it’s called “Celestial.”

Based on the title, fans are speculating about which Pokemon the song will be about.

There are a number legendary pokemon with references to a word referring to outer space or the sky.

Most obviously, Palkia is a legendary Pokemon that controls the cosmos.

Solrock and Lunatone also have links to the sun and moon, and both have been widely available this month in Pokémon Go.

Other legends from space include Cosmog and its evolutions: Cosmoem, Solgaleo, and Lunala.

Cosmog was recently given away at an event in Pokémon Go, although its evolution has not yet been included.

A new song could be part of the launch of these Pokemon.

The mythical Pokemon, Celebi, also controls space and time, while common Pokemon like Clefairy are said to come from the moon.

Pokémon Go also recently had a Clefairy-themed event, which may hint at the inclusion of fairy Pokémon in the song.

We’ll know more when the song drops next week.
