Schools are expected to be closed to allow all children to observe an official national day of mourning on the day of the Queen’s funeral.
However, Art Scottish Government has not yet confirmed official measures for schools, but it is understood that an update will be given soon.
But what we do know is that some schools may have already celebrated public holidays after the death.
The government has declared national mourning, which will last until the day of the funeral.
Holiday, September 19
The King also approved bank holidays across the UK Charles III on the day of his mother’s funeral.
The new king confirmed the order at a ceremony in London declaring him monarch.
The Queen’s state funeral will take place on Monday 19 September.
Schools in Edinburgh and East Ayrshire already have the day off on Monday 19 September, as well as schools in Fraserburgh and Portleton in Aberdeenshire, as well as in Aberlour, Craigellach, Knockand, Tomintoul, Dufftown, Berghead, Hopman, Lossiemouth, Forres and Roth in Moray.
However, in some areas of Scotland there will be a public holiday weekend from Friday 16 September to Monday 19 September.
Between these two dates there is a September weekend in East Lothian, Midlothian and South Ayrshire.
schools in Falkirk are closed this Monday (September 12) for the usual public holiday, with local holidays also affecting schools in Buckie, Cullen, Findaghty and Portnocky in Moray.
