THERE are changes at the top of one York school.
Headteacher of one of York’s best-performing secondary schools, Archbishop Holgate’s CE in Badger Hill, Andrew Daly will become chief executive of Archbishop Holgate’s school from September, alongside retaining his role as CEO of Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust.
This means that Alexis Green-Harding will become Head of School at Archbishop Holgate and will manage the day-to-day life of the school.
In a letter to parents, Mr Daly said: “Mr Green-Harding will therefore take responsibility for ensuring that the pupils’ experience both in and out of lessons is of the highest standard. This means that Mr. Green-Harding is likely to be the first dot
contact if you need to contact the school.
“We are excited about the years ahead and that the school continues to thrive. It is a real privilege to lead the archbishopric and I look forward to continuing to do so for many years to come.”
As The Press reported earlier this year, the school was inspected by Ofsted under a strict new inspection system and the school achieved the highest grade of ‘outstanding’ in all areas, which is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve.
Mr Daly said: “As headteacher, the first two sentences of the report reflect our ongoing ambitions for the school: ‘Archbishop Holgate School is an exceptional place for pupils to learn. School values of justice,
compassion, forgiveness and trust underpin every aspect of school life.’
“In addition to Archbishop’s, we have also had greater success within the Pathfinder Multi Academy Trust with four of our primary schools, Clifton with Rawcliffe, Hempland, New Earswick and Acomb, all receiving very positive Ofsted reports.
“The archbishop also has the privilege of managing the center of pedagogic schools, of which there are only 87 in the country. RyedaleScarborough and York and a successful first year in our commitment to support the recruitment and development of teachers in over 153 schools across the region and beyond.’
He went on to say that while Ofsted had not identified anything “the school needs to improve”, Mr Green-Harding’s appointment was part of a plan to build leadership capacity to support Mr Daly in managing the archdiocesan and multi-academy trust. .
Mr Daly said: “What has been achieved over time at Archbishop’s has been the collective effort of all our staff, supported by an excellent senior management team and the efforts of Penny McDermott, Dan Furniss, Alexis Green-Harding, who this year led Teaching School Hub and most recently Mike Williams as Deputy Head.
“Students and families will notice a very small difference in September, but this additional leadership capacity will make a significant contribution over time to our continued excellence in all that we do.”
