Bratislava, July 15 (TASR) – Doctors continue to insist on their demands and they are determined to serve their notices if their demands are not met, the head of the doctors’ union (LOZ) Petar Wislajski said in connection with the negotiations on the salaries of medical workers.
“The situation in our health care is so serious that doctors are determined to prevent these demands. Unfortunately, politicians do not give any other way out. Nothing has changed in this position of ours, because we still don’t see any real steps by the government to improve our health care,” he said.
Visalaisky emphasized that people already feel the problem of shortage of medical workers. “I would like the government to act as soon as possible and not waste time on decisions with unnecessary downtime. It is in order to force the government to act that hospital doctors have announced a strike and are putting pressure on the government through messages to finally address the health sector,” he added.
Salaries of medical workers were discussed on Thursday, July 14, in the government. Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) said after the meeting that they did not agree on a specific proposal to raise wages. The continuation of negotiations is planned for August 9. LOZ assessed the meeting positively.
