Cicmany, July 7 (TASR) – Piotr Slysko will run for the post of governor of the Žilina region from the non-parliamentary party “Voice-SD” in the regional elections that will be held this fall, “Voice-SD” leader Peter Pellegrini announced at a press conference held on Thursday in Chichmany (Zhilinsk region).

The priorities of Slysko are transport infrastructure, tourism and care for all areas of the Žilina region. “The main thing in these difficult times is helping people. If the state fundamentally failed this test, then cities, villages and districts should help people. Together with my team, I offer people a managerial and result-oriented approach. These are concrete actions, not another promise of those who already had their chance,” Slysko stressed.

According to Pellegrini, Voice-SD wants to combine experience with new energy. “The two years of this government have clearly shown that competence and ability to run a state or local government is very important. It is also important to attract new faces to politics who have already achieved something in their lives, to use their energy, tenacity and ability to look at things differently. Piotr Slysko is a young but experienced manager. He reached the management position thanks to his own abilities and efforts. He has experience in tourism, culture and transport,” said Pellegrini.

The current governor of the Žilina region, Erika Yurinova, vice-governor Ihar Yankulik (KDH) and Francishak Drozd (ultra-right LSNS) have already announced that they are running for this position. In addition, the leader of the opposition Smer-SD, Robert Fitso, announced the candidacy of the former mayor of Zhilin and the director of the National Road Company Igor Khoma.
