“Our two main goals, extending the tourist season and attracting travelers who spend a lot of money on holidays, are being met,” Tourism Minister Vasilis Kikilias said in an interview with Euronews on Wednesday.
Kykilias stressed that the latest figures from the Bank of Greece on Greek airports are impressive because they are approaching, and in some cases even surpassing the corresponding figures for 2019, despite the fact that the current season cannot be compared to the period before the pandemic.
“2019 was a carefree year, this year we are facing many crises (energy, inflation, war in Europe) until we have tourists from Russia, Ukraine and especially from China, which is a huge market. However, we are the first in terms of tourist arrivals from France, Israel and Serbia, as well as in terms of road tourism from Romania. We are also in the top three in terms of arrivals from the UK, Germany and Scandinavia, ”Kikilias said.
