Foreign direct investment increased by 34% in the first four months of this year and amounted to 3.149 billion euros compared to 2.35 billion euros in the same period in 2021, according to the National Bank of Romania.

“Non-residents’ direct investment in Romania amounted to € 3.149 million (compared to € 2.350 million in January-April 2021), of which equity investment (including estimated net reinvested earnings) amounted to a net value of € 3.031 million and domestic group loans they registered a net worth of 118 million euros »said in a press release.

According to the Trade Register, the number of newly created companies with foreign capital in Romania in the first four months of 2022 increased by 27.8% compared to the same period in 2021 to 2186 units, and the authorized capital was recorded at $ 14.008 million, which is 31 , 1% less than the companies registered in January-April 2021 – $ 20.326 million.

In April 2022, 546 companies with foreign participation in the authorized capital were registered. Depending on the directions, most registrations were registered in professional, administrative and scientific-technical activities (23.81%), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (19.23% of the total) and transport, storage and communication (18 , 32%).

At the end of April 2022, there were 239,033 companies in Romania with foreign participation in the authorized capital. The value of the subscribed capital was $ 66.42 billion.

In January-April 2022, the current account of the balance of payments amounted to a deficit of 7,568 million euros compared to 4,114 million euros for the same period last year. The breakdown shows that the deficit in trade in goods increased by 2,589 million euros, the surplus on services – by 345 million euros, the deficit of primary income – by 1,126 million euros, the surplus of secondary income decreased by 84 million euros. central bank also reported.
