New Wales motorists to receive up to $ 750 back on overhaul fare

New South Wales Prime Minister Dominique Perrotet said the new program would provide “more relief, more often for more motorists”.

Nearly 300,000 drivers are expected to receive some relief from next fiscal year, when the scheme takes effect on July 1 and will be limited to $ 750.

It will replace the existing scheme, which reduces vehicle registration by half or completely after motorists reach or exceed a certain payment threshold.

Treasurer Matt Keane said the aid system would make traveling on NSW highways cheaper for hundreds of thousands of motorists.

“These discounts will improve the availability of paid travel for individuals, families and small businesses,” Mr Keane said.

Motorists had to spend $ 877 on tolls before their registration was halved, and $ 1,462 to get registration for free, about $ 28 a week.

Overhaul rates will return money in the pockets of households already affected by the cost of living crisis.

The scheme, to be announced in the budget on June 21, involves doubling the number of drivers to whom the state government refunds for travel.
