She says she received a message from her daughter in which she assumed she had a new phone number.

The scammers then told her to delete Sam’s current contact information before starting a conversation with an unsuspecting mom.

Paula explained: “I received a text message from my daughter asking me to delete the old phone number because she was given a new number.

“After a few lines of text, I asked if I would make a transaction for her, which I agreed to if she sent me a sort code, recipient details and account number.”

Mom agreed to the request when she made sure she was talking to Sam because the messages were “personal and authentic”.

She said that WhatsApp the conversation corresponded to what was going on in their lives, seeing Paul waving off his worries.

But it turned out to be a rather costly mistake – and she only realized it when the fraudster, who pretended to be Sam, did not respond to her message last night.

Paula said, “I thought it was my daughter, and thought it was because of the situation I was able to do it, and I feel like I was made a fool of.”

Fortunately, her bank Santander was able to stop the last transaction and return the rest of the money to her mother.

Sam’s daughter told how she “felt sick” when Paul told her she had been cheated on for almost £ 16,000.

She said: “Why, if I know she’s good at things and technology and you know there’s a lot of scams and fake scams, why pay her that kind of money?”

“I was furious, I was very angry, I had a lot of mixed emotions.

“Then when I came here and learned more about the situation, I realized how she paid and how she got there.”

Paulie’s case is currently being investigated by the National Bureau of Intelligence of the London Police.

WHATSAPP WARNINGS

The mother and daughter shared their exciting story to warn other WhatsApp users not to succumb to the same trick.

The messaging program regularly targets cunning cybercriminals.

The WhatsApp expert previously shared three warning signs you should pay attention to to avoid scams.

Brian Higgins, a security specialist at Comparitech, said Sun users should remove suspicious messages immediately.

The British were also warned to watch out for Fr. a new scam that allows hackers to hijack your account with a single call.

They somehow bypass the security features of the messaging program to access the Whatsapp account without being detected by the user.
