A 17-YEAR-OLD boy has been arrested by City of London Police on suspicion of hacking and remains in custody.
The teenager is believed to be guilty of an attack on video game development studio Rockstar Gameslast week.
On Sunday, September 18, 2022, someone posted almost a hundred videos of Rockstar’s upcoming game GTA 6 online.
They obtained the footage by hacking the studio’s database, Rockstar confirmed.
on monday Rockstar released a statement confirming the source of the leaks, saying that the incident will not delay the game’s development.
It said: “We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded sensitive information from our system.

“[This is] including early development footage from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto.”
Rockstar then partnered with tech company Uber, believing the attack came from the same actor that hacked the company earlier this month.
Uber released a statement about the partnership, confirming that The FBI and the US Department of Justice are now participating.
It said: “Over the weekend, reports surfaced that the same actor had breached video game maker Rockstar Games.
“We are working closely with the FBI and the US Department of Justice on this matter and will continue to support their efforts.”
However, the latest information on the case suggests that the hack was committed in England, not the US.
At 1pm today (September 23), the City of London Police announced on Twitter that a 17-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of hacking.
The tweet said: “On the evening of Thursday 22 September 2022, City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old boy in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking as part of an investigation supported by the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU).
“He remains at the police station.”

Journalist Matthew Keys has since reported that a source has confirmed to him that “the crime is related to the hacking of Rockstar Games and possibly Uber Technologies.”
London police have not publicly confirmed whether the teenager arrested last night is connected to the GTA case.
